Car
If you are driving, head towards the Mourne Mountains from your starting location. If you're in Newry, take the A2 road south towards Kilkeel. Follow the signs for the A25, and then turn onto Kilkeel Rd. Continue on this road for about 7 miles. The Spelga Dam will be on your left. There is parking available near the dam, and the views are stunning!
Public Transportation
If you are using public transport, take a bus from Newry to Kilkeel. The bus service is operated by Translink, and the bus route number is 238. Once you arrive in Kilkeel, you can catch a local taxi to Spelga Dam, which is approximately 4 miles away. The taxi fare may vary, so it's advisable to confirm the price with the driver before starting your journey.
Walking
For the adventurous, if you are already in the Mourne Mountains area, you can walk to Spelga Dam from nearby hiking trails. Follow the Mourne Way or other local paths leading towards the dam. This is a scenic route but requires good walking shoes and a reasonable level of fitness.
