Walking
From the Salthill Promenade, head west towards the Claddagh area. Follow the coastal path along the beach until you reach the ferry terminal at Rossaveal. Once there, buy a ticket for the ferry to Inis Meain. The ferry ride takes about 45 minutes. Upon arrival at Inis Meain, you will need to take a local bike or walk to reach the village of Killeany. Dún Dúchathair (Black Fort) is located on the western side of the island, about 3 kilometers from the village. Follow the signs or ask locals for directions, keeping an eye out for the stunning views along the way.

Public Transport
From Salthill, walk to the nearest bus stop on the Promenade. Take the bus to Galway city center. Once in the city, transfer to the Bus Éireann service that goes to Rossaveal. At Rossaveal, purchase your ferry ticket for Inis Meain. The ferry will take you to the island, where you can either rent a bike or walk to the village of Killeany. Dún Dúchathair (Black Fort) is approximately 3 kilometers from Killeany. Follow the signs or ask locals for assistance to find your way.
