At the roundabout, take the second exit onto the R336. Continue walking straight for about 15-20 minutes, passing by several shops and cafes. You will see signs directing you to Galway City. As you approach the city, keep an eye out for the Spanish Arch on your left. The Galway City Museum is located just beyond the Arch, directly on Spanish Parade.

  • Bus

From Salthill, make your way to the nearest bus stop along the main road (the R336). Look for buses that head towards Galway City Centre. The bus number 401 or 404 is a good option. Board the bus and after about 10 minutes, get off at the stop near Eyre Square. From there, it’s a short walk: head southwest on Shop Street, then turn left onto Quay Street. Continue until you reach the Spanish Arch, and the Galway City Museum will be on your right at Spanish Parade.

  • Bicycle

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Salthill. Start at the Salthill Promenade and cycle north towards the R336. Follow the path along the coast, and then merge onto the cycle lane that runs parallel to the main road. It will lead you into the city. As you reach the Spanish Arch, park your bike and you will find the Galway City Museum just a short walk further along Spanish Parade.
