Getting There

Walking
From the center of Salthill, head towards the Promenade and walk west along the coastline. Continue until you reach the roundabout at the end of the Promenade. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto the R336 road towards Oughterard. Continue walking along this road for approximately 3.5 km. You will pass by several local shops and cafes on your way. Eventually, you will see signs for Glengowla Mines. The entrance is located off the R336, just after a small bridge. Look for the signs indicating the attraction.

From Salthill, walk to the nearest bus stop on the R336. Take Bus Route 409 towards Oughterard. The journey will take approximately 20-30 minutes. Inform the bus driver you want to get off at the stop for Glengowla Mines. Once you get off, walk back along the road for about 200 meters, and you will see the entrance to Glengowla Mines on your left.

Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, start from the center of Salthill and head towards the Promenade. Ride west along the coastline until you reach the roundabout at the end of the Promenade. Take the first exit onto the R336 road towards Oughterard. Follow this road for about 3.5 km. Be cautious of traffic as you ride. Glengowla Mines will be on your left, just after a small bridge. There is a parking area available for bicycles at the entrance.
