Car
If you're driving, take the N15 from Sligo towards Donegal Town. After passing through Donegal Town, follow the signs for the N56 towards Killybegs. Once you reach Killybegs, continue on the N56 and then follow the sign for the R263 towards Malin Beg. The Slieve League Cliffs are well signposted from here. There is a parking area available at the cliffs, and parking costs approximately €5 per vehicle. Make sure to park in designated areas to avoid fines.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Sligo to Donegal Town. Bus Eireann operates services on this route. Once in Donegal Town, transfer to a bus heading towards Killybegs. From Killybegs, you will need to catch a local taxi or arrange for a shuttle service to take you to the Slieve League Cliffs, as public transport does not directly serve this area. Expect taxi fares to be around €20-€30 depending on the distance from Killybegs to the cliffs.
Walking
If you are already in the nearby area and prefer walking, follow the coastal path from the nearest village of Malin Beg. The walk takes approximately 30-45 minutes and offers stunning views of the cliffs. To find the starting point, head towards the main road and look for the signposts indicating the walking trail to Slieve League. Ensure to wear suitable footwear, as the terrain can be uneven.
Bicycle
Cycling is another option for reaching Slieve League. There are bike rental services available in Donegal Town. After renting a bike, cycle along the N56 towards Killybegs, then take the R263 to reach the cliffs. The route is scenic but can be challenging due to hilly terrain. Ensure you have a helmet and follow local cycling regulations. The distance is approximately 30 km from Donegal Town, so plan for a leisurely ride.
