From the main bus station in Sligo, take the Bus Éireann route heading towards Ballina. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. You will want to get off at the 'Ballinafad' stop. After disembarking, walk towards the direction of the castle, which is located about a 15-minute walk away from the bus stop. Follow the signs towards Ballinafad village, and you will see the castle situated in the countryside.

If you are staying in Sligo town, you can walk to Ballinafad Castle. Begin at O'Connell Street and head northwest towards the N4 road. Follow the N4 until you reach the junction for the R284. Turn left onto the R284 and continue straight. After approximately 5 kilometers, you will reach Ballinafad. The castle is located just a short walk from the village center. The entire walk will take around 1 hour and 15 minutes.
