From the center of Sligo, head towards O'Connell Street. Walk along O'Connell Street until you reach the junction with Quay Street. Turn right onto Quay Street and continue straight until you reach the River Garavogue. Cross the bridge and keep walking along the riverbank until you arrive at the junction with the R292 road.

Once you reach the R292, turn left and follow the road for about 1.5 km. You will pass by the scenic views of Lough Gill on your right. Continue on this road until you see the sign for Hazelwood Forest on your left.

You can also take a bus from Sligo town to Hazelwood. Check the local bus schedules for routes heading towards Hazelwood Demesne. The bus stop is usually located near O'Connell Street. Make sure to inform the driver of your stop, or look for signs indicating Hazelwood Forest.
Cycling
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in Sligo town. Follow the same route as for walking, taking O'Connell Street and then Quay Street to the River Garavogue. From there, continue along the R292 towards Hazelwood Forest. There are bike racks available at the entrance of the forest.
