Car
If you're driving, head towards the city center of Jerusalem. Use a GPS navigation app and enter 'Damascus Gate, Jerusalem'. Note that parking in the Old City can be challenging and expensive. The nearest parking lot is located at the Mamilla Mall (about a 15-minute walk from the gate). From the parking lot, walk east towards Jaffa Street, then turn left onto Sultan Suleiman Street. Continue straight until you reach the Damascus Gate.
Public Transportation - Bus
Take bus lines 1, 3, 4, or 21 that stop at the Central Bus Station in Jerusalem. From there, you can catch the light rail (Jerusalem Light Rail) towards 'Mount Herzl' and get off at the 'Damascus Gate' station. The gate is just a short walk from the station. The bus fare is approximately 6.50 ILS (Israeli New Shekel).
Public Transportation - Light Rail
You can also take the Jerusalem Light Rail directly to the 'Damascus Gate' station. If you are near the light rail line, board the train heading towards 'Mount Herzl' and disembark at 'Damascus Gate'. The train fare is about 5.90 ILS. The gate is located immediately adjacent to the station.
Taxi or Rideshare
You can use a taxi or rideshare service like Gett or Uber to get to Damascus Gate. Simply enter 'Damascus Gate' as your destination. The cost will vary depending on your starting location but expect to pay around 30-50 ILS from central Jerusalem. Taxis can drop you off close to the gate, making this a convenient option.
