Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, set your GPS to 'Via Del Mulino Stiffe, 2, 67028 Stiffe AQ'. From the center of Abruzzo National Park, take the SS83 road towards Avezzano. Continue on SS83 for about 20 km until you reach the junction for SP1. Turn onto SP1 and follow the signs for Stiffe. After approximately 10 km, you will arrive at the parking area for Stiffe Caves. Parking is available on-site, and there is a small fee associated with it.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transport, you can take a bus from L'Aquila to Stiffe. First, make your way to the L'Aquila bus station. From there, take the bus to 'Stiffe'. Buses run several times a day, but check the schedule in advance as it may vary. Once you arrive in Stiffe, the caves are approximately a 15-minute walk from the bus stop. Follow the signs leading towards 'Grotta di Stiffe'. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as the terrain can be uneven.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, consider taking a taxi from nearby towns like L'Aquila or Avezzano. The taxi ride from L'Aquila takes about 30 minutes and costs approximately €40-€50. From Avezzano, the journey is shorter, around 20 minutes, and costs about €30-€40. Ensure that you arrange for a return taxi, as public transport may not run late in the evening.
