Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards Welsberg-Taisten from your location on Alta Via 1. Use the SS49 road, which will take you through beautiful South Tyrolean landscapes. Once you reach Welsberg-Taisten, look for signs to Via Castello. The castle is located at Via Castello Schlossweg, 39035 Monguelfo-Tesido BZ. There is parking available near the castle, but it may be limited, especially during peak tourist seasons.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, first take a bus or train to the nearest town, Monguelfo-Tesido. From there, you can catch a local bus towards Welsberg-Taisten. Check the local bus schedules in advance as they may vary by season. Once you arrive at the Welsberg-Taisten stop, it is a short walk to Via Castello Schlossweg. Follow the signs to Welsberg Castle, which is approximately a 15-minute walk from the bus stop.
Walking
If you are already on foot along Alta Via 1 and wish to visit Welsberg Castle, plan a detour towards Welsberg-Taisten. The walk is scenic but can take approximately 2-3 hours depending on your pace. Ensure to have a map or GPS enabled on your device to navigate the trails leading towards Via Castello Schlossweg. Once you reach the castle, take the time to explore the beautiful surroundings and enjoy the historical architecture.
