Bus
From Amalfi, walk to the Amalfi bus station located near the main square. Take the SITA bus towards Naples. The bus ride will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Make sure to check the schedule for the bus times. Once you arrive at the last stop in Naples, transfer to a local train from Napoli Centrale to the Ottaviano train station, which takes about 30 minutes. From Ottaviano station, you can take a local taxi or a short bus ride to reach the Mount Vesuvius entrance.
Train and Shuttle
From Amalfi, walk to the nearest bus stop and take a SITA bus to Salerno. From Salerno, take a train to Napoli Centrale. Once in Naples, transfer to the Circumvesuviana train line towards Sorrento and get off at the Pompeii Scavi stop. At this stop, there are shuttle buses available that will take you directly to Mount Vesuvius. The shuttle ride takes about 30 minutes.
Guided Tour
Consider booking a guided tour that includes transportation from Amalfi to Mount Vesuvius. Many local tour operators offer packages that include a group bus ride or van directly to the volcano.
