Start from the central square of Assisi, Piazza del Comune. Head north on Via del Comune Nuovo, which will lead you to Via San Francesco. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Via Eremo delle Carceri. Turn left onto Via Eremo delle Carceri and follow the road uphill. The Eremo delle Carceri will be located on your right at number 38. The walk will take approximately 30 minutes, and you will enjoy beautiful views along the way.

If you are near the Basilica di San Francesco, exit the basilica grounds and head east on Via Frate Elia. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Via Eremo delle Carceri. Turn right onto Via Eremo delle Carceri and ascend the hill. Eremo delle Carceri is located at number 38 on your left. This route will take around 25 minutes and offers a scenic and peaceful walk through nature.
Public Transport
From the Assisi train station, take bus number 5 towards Eremo delle Carceri. The bus will drop you off close to the entrance of Eremo delle Carceri. Ensure to check the bus schedule in advance as the frequency may vary. After arriving, you'll find the shrine just a short walk away.
