Getting There

  • Walking

    Starting from the Basilica of San Francesco d'Assisi, head northeast on Via San Francesco. Continue straight onto Via della Rocca, which will lead you uphill. After about 10-15 minutes of walking, you will reach Rocca Maggiore, located at Via della Rocca, 06081 Assisi PG. The fortress is clearly visible as you approach, and the walk offers beautiful views of Assisi.

    If you are at the Piazza del Comune, walk towards Via Portica and then take a left onto Via Santa Chiara. Continue on this road until you reach the intersection with Via della Rocca. Turn right onto Via della Rocca, and follow the road uphill for about 15-20 minutes to reach Rocca Maggiore.

    From the Assisi train station, exit and head towards the main road, Via Giovanni XXIII. Follow the road until you reach the intersection with Via Roma.
