Start at the Basilica of St. Francis, which is one of the most famous landmarks in Assisi. From the basilica, exit and head east towards Via San Francesco. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Via Fontebella. Turn left onto Via Fontebella. Follow Via Fontebella for about 10-15 minutes until you see St. Francis Gate on your right side. The gate is a historical landmark, so keep an eye out for its distinctive architecture.

If you are at Piazza del Comune, the central square of Assisi, exit the square heading towards Via Portica. Continue along Via Portica until you reach Via San Francesco. Turn right onto Via San Francesco and proceed to Via Fontebella. Turn right on Via Fontebella and walk straight until you reach St. Francis Gate. It should take about 15-20 minutes from the piazza.

From the Assisi train station, exit and walk towards the main road (Via Giovanni Paolo II). Head uphill towards the town center. When you reach the top, follow the signs towards the Basilica of St. Francis. Once you reach the basilica, follow the previous directions from there to reach St. Francis Gate.
