If you are starting from the Basilica di San Francesco, head east on Via Frate Elia towards Via San Francesco. Turn left onto Via San Francesco and continue straight until you reach Piazza del Comune. In the Piazza, you'll see the impressive Tempio di Minerva. Exit the Piazza on the opposite side, continuing on Via del Comune Nuovo. Follow this road as it curves slightly left and becomes Via San Rufino. Continue walking straight until you reach Piazza San Rufino, where the Fontana di San Rufino is located.

From the Assisi train station, exit the station and turn right onto Via G. Marconi. Walk straight until you reach the intersection with Via San Francesco. Turn left onto Via San Francesco, and follow the road to Piazza del Comune. From the Piazza, follow the previous directions to Piazza San Rufino. It’s about a 20-minute walk.

If you are near the Rocca Maggiore, descend from the fortress and head towards the city center. Walk down Via Rocca Maggiore until you reach the bottom of the hill, then take a right onto Via San Francesco. Follow this road to Piazza del Comune, and then continue to Piazza San Rufino following the previous directions.
