Starting from the Piazza del Comune, head east on Via Bartolomeo D'Alviano. Continue straight until you reach the end of the street, where it intersects with Via San Francesco. Turn left onto Via San Francesco and follow this road uphill. You will see the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi ahead of you as you approach. The entrance is located at the Piazza Inferiore di S. Francesco.

If you are at the Assisi train station, exit the station and turn left onto Viale G. Marconi. Walk straight for about 10 minutes until you reach the main road, Via della Repubblica. Turn right and continue walking uphill. Follow the signs to the Basilica; they will lead you to a pathway that takes you directly to the entrance of the Basilica located at Piazza Inferiore di S. Francesco.

From the Rocca Maggiore (the fortress), head down towards the city center. Follow the signs leading you to Via San Francesco.
