Walking
If you are in the Città Alta (Upper Town) of Bergamo, head towards the main street, Via Colleoni. From the Piazza Vecchia, take Via Colleoni and follow it until you reach the end of the street. Continue straight to reach the Porta San Giacomo, which is a beautiful medieval gate. After passing through the gate, continue straight until you reach the intersection with Viale delle Mura. Turn right, and you will soon see the Cittadella Viscontea on your left.

From the Bergamo train station, take the bus line 1 towards the Città Alta (Upper Town). Get off at the stop 'Piazza Mercato delle Scarpe'. From here, walk towards Via Colleoni, which is the main street leading to the Città Alta. Follow Via Colleoni to the end, where you'll find the Porta San Giacomo, then turn right on Viale delle Mura, and the Cittadella Viscontea will be on your left.

If you are near the lower town, take the funicular from Viale Vittorio Emanuele II to the Città Alta. Once you exit the funicular, walk towards the main square, Piazza Vecchia.
