Walking
If you are starting from the Bergamo train station (Stazione di Bergamo), exit the station and head towards the bus stop. Take the bus line 1 (direction: 'Città Alta') which will take you to the upper town (Città Alta). The bus ride will take approximately 15 minutes. Once you reach the stop at 'Piazza Mercato delle Scarpe', disembark and walk towards the funicular station. From the funicular, you will ascend to the upper town. When you exit the funicular, walk straight ahead towards 'Piazza Vecchia', which is the main square in Città Alta. The square is a short 5-minute walk from the funicular exit.

If you are near the city center (Città Bassa), you can take bus line 1 from the bus stop 'Piazza Matteotti'. Board the bus heading to 'Città Alta'. The journey will take around 10-15 minutes. Get off at the 'Piazza Mercato delle Scarpe' stop. From there, walk towards the funicular station and take the funicular up to the upper town. After exiting the funicular, you will find 'Piazza Vecchia' just a 5-minute walk straight ahead.
