By Car
If you're traveling by car, start by navigating to Bologna. From the A1 Autostrada, take the exit toward Bologna and merge onto Via Emilia. Follow the signs for the city center. Once in Bologna, head toward Piazza Malpighi, where the Basilica di San Francesco is located. There is limited street parking available nearby, but consider using a parking garage such as 'Parcheggio Staveco' or 'Parcheggio Centrale' for convenience, which may incur a cost of around €1-2 per hour.
By Train
For those taking public transportation, take a train to Bologna Centrale. Once you arrive at the train station, exit and look for bus or tram stops. You can take Bus 21 in the direction of 'Mazzini' and get off at 'Indipendenza' stop. From there, it's a short walk (approximately 10 minutes) to Piazza Malpighi. Alternatively, you can take a taxi from the train station, which would cost around €10-15.

If you are staying in central Bologna, the Basilica di San Francesco is within walking distance from many popular landmarks. From Piazza Maggiore, simply head south on Via dell'Indipendenza, then turn left onto Via Malpighi. The basilica will be on your right at Piazza Malpighi, 9.
