If you are in the historic center of Florence, head towards the Piazza della Repubblica. From there, continue walking straight along Via Roma, which will lead you to Via dei Calzaiuoli. Turn right onto Via dei Calzaiuoli and walk until you reach the intersection with Via dei Servi. Make a left onto Via dei Servi, and then take the first right onto Via San Marco. Walk straight until you reach Piazza San Marco, which will be on your left. You will see the prominent basilica and the square.

You can take a bus from various locations in Florence to get close to Piazza San Marco. If you are near the Florence Cathedral (Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore), walk to the bus stop at 'Cattedrale' and take Bus 6 or 14. Disembark at the stop 'San Marco' which is just a short walk from the square. Once you get off, walk towards the large open space, and you will find Piazza San Marco ahead.
