    Getting There

    Bus

    From Florence, head to the main bus station, Firenze S.M.N. (Santa Maria Novella). Look for the bus terminal located just outside the train station. Purchase a ticket for the 'SITA' bus heading towards San Gimignano. Buses to San Gimignano run regularly, so check the schedule for the next departure. The journey will take about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Once you arrive at the San Gimignano bus station, it's a short walk to Porta San Giovanni. Exit the bus station, turn left onto Via Garibaldi, then follow it until you reach the main entrance of the town.

    Train and Bus

    Take a train from Florence's main train station, Firenze S.M.N. (Santa Maria Novella), to Poggibonsi. The train ride takes approximately 50 minutes. Once you arrive at Poggibonsi, exit the train station and head to the bus stop outside. Catch a SITA bus towards San Gimignano. The bus ride will take around 20 minutes. When you arrive at the San Gimignano bus station, exit and walk left along Via Garibaldi to reach Porta San Giovanni.

    If you're already in San Gimignano, locate the town center. From Piazza della Cisterna, walk east along Via San Giovanni. Continue straight until you reach the Porta San Giovanni, which will be on your left. It’s about a 10-minute walk from the center of town.
