Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards Udine on the A23 autostrada. Take the exit for Udine Nord and follow the signs for the city center (Centro). Once in the city, follow the signs for 'Castello' which will guide you to the castle located at P.le della Patria del Friuli, 1, 33100 Udine. There is limited parking near the castle, so plan to arrive early to secure a spot. Be aware that parking may incur a fee, typically around €1-2 per hour.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Udine Castle via public transportation, take a train to Udine from major cities like Trieste or Venice. Once you arrive at Udine train station, exit and head to the bus terminal adjacent to the station. Take bus line 1 or 5, which will take you towards the city center. Get off at 'Piazza della Libertà' and walk approximately 10 minutes uphill to reach the castle. The bus fare is usually around €1.50. Alternatively, you can also walk from the train station to the castle, which is about a 20-minute walk through the city.

• Walking

  If you're already in Udine or nearby, walking to Udine Castle is a great option. The castle is situated on a hill overlooking the city. Start at Piazza della Libertà, then follow Via Mercatovecchio until you reach Via del Castello. Follow this road uphill until you arrive at the castle entrance. The walk takes about 15-20 minutes and offers lovely views of the city along the way.
