Car
If you are driving to the Sistine Chapel, navigate to Vatican City. From the main roads in Lazio, such as the A1 Autostrada, you can take the exit for 'Roma Centro' and follow the signs for the Vatican. Once you arrive in Vatican City, look for parking options nearby. Note that parking can be limited and may incur fees, typically around €2-€4 per hour. The Sistine Chapel is located at 00120 Vatican City, and once you park, it's a short walk to the entrance.
Public Transportation - Metro
To reach the Sistine Chapel via public transportation, take the Metro Line A (the orange line) to the 'Ottaviano - San Pietro' station. This is the closest metro stop to the Vatican. From the metro station, it’s about a 10-15 minute walk to the entrance of the Vatican Museums, which include the Sistine Chapel. Exit the metro station, head towards Via Ottaviano, and follow the signs to the Vatican Museums. Note that the metro ticket costs approximately €1.50.
Public Transportation - Bus
You can also take a bus to reach the Sistine Chapel. Multiple bus lines, including 49, 81, and 982, have stops nearby. If you are near Termini Station, you can catch bus 64, which will take you to the Vatican area. Make sure to check the bus schedules and routes on the ATAC website or app. A single bus ticket costs about €1.50. After disembarking, follow the signs to the Vatican Museums, where the Sistine Chapel is located.
