Car
If you're traveling by car in Lazio, head towards the A1 Autostrada (the main highway). Depending on your starting point in Lazio, you may need to navigate to the nearest entry point. From Rome, take the A1 towards Florence and exit at 'Orte.' Follow the signs for Viterbo, and then take the SR2 road which leads directly to Bagnaia. Once in Bagnaia, follow Via Jacopo Barozzi, and you will find Villa Lante at number 71. Parking is available nearby, but it may incur a small fee.
Public Transportation (Train and Bus)
For those using public transport, start by taking a train from Rome to Viterbo. Trains run frequently from Roma Termini to Viterbo Porta Romana. The journey takes about 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at Viterbo, exit the train station and look for the local bus service (COTRAL) that heads to Bagnaia. Buses run regularly, and you should check the schedule in advance. The bus ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Get off at the stop closest to Villa Lante, which is on Via Jacopo Barozzi. From there, it’s just a short walk to the entrance.
Taxi or Ride-Sharing
If you prefer a more direct route and don't mind the extra cost, consider taking a taxi or using a ride-sharing app from Viterbo to Villa Lante. This option is convenient if you're carrying luggage or prefer not to navigate public transport. The fare should typically range between 15-25 euros depending on traffic and the time of day.
Use Villa Lante as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
