Getting There

• Train and Bus

  From Lucca, head to the Lucca train station (Stazione di Lucca). You can walk there from the city center in about 15-20 minutes. Once at the station, purchase a ticket to Larciano. Be sure to check the train schedule for times; the trip usually takes around 30-40 minutes. Upon arriving at Larciano station, exit the station and look for the bus stop. Take the local bus that goes to 'Pistoia' and inform the bus driver of your destination, 'Castello di Larciano'. The bus ride should take approximately 20 minutes. Get off at the bus stop nearest to the castle, which will be indicated by signs. From there, it will be a short walk to the castle entrance.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Lucca. Start by heading out of the city walls and onto Via Romana. Follow the signage towards Larciano, which is about a 15 km ride. The route will take you through scenic countryside, so be sure to enjoy the views. Once you reach Larciano, look for signs directing you to 'Piazza Castello', where the castle is located.

• Walking

  For the adventurous souls, you can walk from Lucca to Larciano. It is approximately a 13 km walk, which will take about 3 hours. Start from the city center and follow Via di Vallebuona, which leads out of Lucca. Continue on until you reach Larciano. Keep an eye on your map or a GPS-enabled device, as the route can be winding. Once you arrive in Larciano, walk towards 'Piazza Castello', where the castle is located.
