Terme Tettuccio: A Belle Époque Spa Experience

Terme Tettuccio, located in Montecatini Terme, is more than just a spa; it's a journey back in time to the elegance of the Belle Époque. The spa's origins trace back to 1370, but it was between 1779 and 1781 when the first thermal baths were built. Grand Duke Leopold of Habsburg-Lorraine commissioned architect Niccolò Gaspero Maria Paoletti to design the original structure. The spa offers a unique 'drinking spa' experience, where guests can sample therapeutic waters from four different springs: Tettuccio, Regina, Leopoldina, and Rinfresco. The complex also features the Salone Portoghesi, designed by architect Paolo Portoghesi, a historic café with works by Maria Biseo, and various fountains, including the Crocodile Fountain by Sirio Tofanari and the Heron and Frog Fountain by Raffaele Romanelli.
