From the Livorno city center, the Fortezza Vecchia is easily accessible by foot. Head towards the Porto Mediceo, keeping the harbor on your right. The fortress is located at the edge of the harbor, near the Piazzale dei Marmi. The walk is approximately 15-20 minutes from Piazza Grande.
Public Transport
Several bus lines connect the Livorno Centrale train station to the Fortezza Vecchia. Take bus lines 30, 5, 8N, 8R, or 102 from the station to a stop near the port. From there, it's a short walk to the fortress. A single bus ticket costs around €1.50.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available in Livorno, including at the train station. A taxi ride from Livorno Centrale to the Fortezza Vecchia will take approximately 10 minutes and cost around €10-€15.
Parking
If driving, parking is available near the Fortezza Vecchia at Porto di Livorno 2000. The parking is located in Piazzale dei Marmi, near the cruise terminal and passenger port. Rates are approximately €1.50 for the first hour, €2.00 from the second hour onwards, and €12.00 for a daily rate.
