Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are at the Lucca Train Station, exit the station and head towards Viale Giuseppe Garibaldi. Walk straight along this road for about 15 minutes until you reach the city walls. Once you arrive at the walls, turn left and continue until you reach the Porta San Pietro. The castle is located just past the entrance of the Porta San Pietro. It should take you approximately 20-25 minutes in total.

    If you are at Piazzale Verdi, walk to the nearest bus stop and take the local bus number 5, which goes towards the city center. Stay on the bus for about 10 minutes and get off at the stop named 'Porta San Pietro.' From there, walk a short distance towards the city walls, and you will find the Porta San Pietro Castle right at the entrance.

    If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the many rental shops located around the city center. From the central square (Piazza dell'Anfiteatro), cycle towards Via Santa Croce and follow the signs leading to the city walls. Once you reach the walls, cycle along the perimeter until you reach Porta San Pietro. The castle is located just beyond this gate.
