Discover more about Azienda Agricola Canneto

Azienda Agricola Canneto is a conventional estate winery with a long winemaking tradition, situated on the western side of Montepulciano, near the scenic church of San Biagio. The estate spans 48 hectares, with 30 hectares dedicated to vineyards. Sixteen of these hectares are specifically for producing Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG. The vineyards are positioned at 350 to 400 meters above sea level, facing south, on soil composed of marl and gravel. Canneto produces a range of wines, including Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Rosso di Montepulciano, and the Supertuscan Filippone, a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet, and Petit Verdot. They also produce Calamus, a white IGT wine, and Il Muffato, a meditation wine with honey notes. In addition to wines, Canneto produces extra virgin olive oil from 4 hectares of olive trees. Visitors can explore the winery, learn about the winemaking process, and taste the various wines produced on site. The estate was originally owned by wealthy families from Montepulciano before being acquired by Ottorino de Angelis and Swiss partners in 1987. Today, Canneto is recognized as a leading producer in Montepulciano, combining tradition with modern techniques under the guidance of consultant oenologist Carlo Ferrini.
