A walk down from the summit leads to the Hermitage of Santa Maria a Cetrella, a 16th-century church with a rich history and connection to local sailors. The area around Monte Solaro boasts over 900 species of vegetation, including acanthus, heather, juniper, and various orchids. Monte Solaro has been a strategic and cultural landmark for centuries. In ancient times, it served as a watchtower for Phoenicians and Greeks, and later, Roman emperors like Augustus built villas on its slopes.
