The palace derives its name from its first owner, Giulio Cohelli. The palace's façade is believed to have been designed by Ippolito Scalza.
Acquired in 2000 by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Orvieto, the building underwent extensive restoration to highlight its historical significance. Today, Palazzo Coelli serves as a multi-functional space, hosting workshops, art exhibitions, meetings, and cultural events. The interior houses a collection of artworks by artists with ties to Orvieto, including Paolo Pollidori, Ilario Ciaurro, and Gino Frittelli.
