    The Etruscan Museum Claudio Faina is located on Piazza del Duomo, directly across from the Orvieto Cathedral. From most points in the historic center of Orvieto, the museum is easily accessible by foot. From the funicular station at Piazza Cahen, walk along Corso Cavour for approximately 800 meters, then turn left onto Via del Duomo. The piazza and museum will be on your right.

  • Public Transport

    If arriving by train to Orvieto Scalo, take the funicular from Piazza Matteotti to Piazza Cahen. The funicular costs €1.30 per person for a one-way ticket, which is valid for 90 minutes and includes the shuttle bus from Piazza Cahen to Piazza Duomo. Alternatively, local urban buses connect Piazza Cahen to Piazza Duomo. From Piazza Cahen, the museum is a short walk.

  • Parking

    If arriving by car, parking is available in several lots around Orvieto. Consider parking at Campo della Fiera and using the escalators or lifts to reach the city center. Follow Via Garibaldi, Corso Cavour, and Via del Duomo to reach Piazza del Duomo, about 800 meters from the top of the escalators/lifts. Parking at Campo della Fiera costs €1.50 per hour. Parking Piazza del Duomo is also available, costing €2.00 per hour, or €17.00 daily. Street parking is available for €1.50 per hour until 10:00 PM.

Located in the heart of Orvieto, the museum's collection began in the mid-19th century with Count Claudio Faina, displaying finds from the Orvieto area. The museum is located in Palazzo Faina, which was built in the mid 1800's by Claudio Faina, by renovating and adding onto a 13th-century house. The collection includes Etruscan, Greek, and Roman artifacts. Visitors can explore black bucchero ware, Attic vases, and recreations of Etruscan tombs. One highlight is the collection of Attic vases and 4th-century pots depicting Vanth, the Etruscan winged goddess of the underworld. The museum also provides a glimpse into the Faina family's home with exquisitely painted ceilings and a balcony overlooking the Duomo. The collection was donated to the Municipality of Orvieto in 1954. A combined ticket is available with the Orvieto Cathedral.
