Discover more about Fontana del Trianon

Nestled within the picturesque Parco Ducale, the Fontana del Trianon stands as a testament to Parma's artistic heritage. This baroque-style marble fountain, commissioned by Duke Francesco Farnese and designed by Giuliano Mozzani between 1712 and 1719, offers a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city. The fountain rises across three levels of Carrara marble, adorned with green marble inserts and decorative water basins. Water gently cascades down, creating small waterfalls that add to the soothing atmosphere. At the top, statues representing the Taro River and Parma Stream pay homage to the region's waterways. Originally, ten additional statues depicting the Four Seasons and other allegorical figures enhanced the fountain's beauty, but these were removed in 1882. Over the years, the Fontana del Trianon has faced its share of challenges. Damaged in 1882, it was dismantled and later restored before being moved to its current location in 1920. Today, it stands on a central island within the park's pond, providing multiple viewing angles and wheelchair-accessible pathways for all to enjoy. The fountain serves as a serene escape from the bustling city life, inviting visitors to admire its exquisite beauty and intricate details.
