From the city center of Perugia, head to the main bus station located at Piazza Partigiani. Look for the bus lines that go to Castiglione del Lago, which is the nearest town to Lago Trasimeno. Buses typically run every hour. Once on the bus, enjoy the scenic ride which will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Get off at the Castiglione del Lago bus stop.

From Perugia, make your way to the Perugia train station, which is located at Piazza Vittorio Veneto. Take a train towards Terontola-Cortona. The journey will take about 25 minutes. Once you arrive at Terontola station, transfer to a local bus that will take you to Lago Trasimeno. The entire journey should take around 1 hour.
