Walking
Start at the Pisa Central Train Station (Pisa Centrale). From the station, head south on Via Francesco Crispi. Continue straight until you reach Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, which should take about 10 minutes. Once at the piazza, turn left onto Via Roma, and continue walking for about 5 minutes until you reach the intersection with Via Garibaldi. Turn right onto Via Garibaldi, which will lead you towards the city center. Walk for another 10 minutes until you reach the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa (Torre Pendente). From the tower, take Via Santa Maria and continue until you reach the Arno River. You can enjoy the beautiful views along the river. Once you reach the river, turn left and follow the riverbank, which will take you towards the Santa Maria della Spina church. After passing the church, continue to walk along the river until you reach the Ponte di Mezzo bridge. Cross the bridge and continue straight until you hit the intersection with Via San Donato. Turn left onto Via San Donato, and follow this road for about 15 minutes until you reach Casermetta San Donato. This route is scenic and will allow you to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Pisa.
Bus
From the Pisa Central Train Station (Pisa Centrale), look for the local bus stop outside the station. Check the bus schedule and take bus number 1 or 2 towards Lucca. After about 30 minutes, get off at the bus stop 'Lucca Porta San Donato'. From there, it’s a short walk to Casermetta San Donato. Head east on Via San Donato, and within 10 minutes, you will arrive at the location. Be sure to check the latest bus timetable for any changes in schedule.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the many rental shops in Pisa, especially near the train station. Start from Pisa Central Station and head towards the city center following the same route as if you were walking. Once you reach the Leaning Tower of Pisa, continue along the river on the bike paths. The ride will be approximately 30 minutes, and you will enjoy the scenic views of the Arno River. Once you reach the Ponte di Mezzo bridge, cross it and follow Via San Donato, leading directly to Casermetta San Donato.
