If you're driving from Bari, take the A14 motorway towards Taranto. After approximately 45 km, take the exit for the SS7 towards Matera. Continue on SS7 for about 60 km, following the signs for Matera. As you approach the city, you will see signs directing you to the historic center. Park in one of the designated parking areas near the Sassi di Matera, as the area is pedestrian-friendly.

To reach Matera by public transportation from Bari, head to the Bari Centrale train station. Take a train to Ferrandina-Matera station, which is about a 1-hour journey. Once at Ferrandina-Matera, catch a bus (line 1) that goes directly to Matera, which takes about 30 minutes. The bus will drop you off near the historic center, where you can explore the Sassi.

If you're coming from Lecce, take the SS275 towards Maglie and then merge onto the SS16 towards Brindisi. Follow the signs to the SS7 towards Matera. This route takes approximately 2 hours. Upon entering Matera, follow the signs to the Sassi district and look for parking options available nearby.
