From the main square in Taormina (Piazza IX Aprile), head east on Corso Umberto I. Continue walking straight along this main street for about 700 meters. You will pass various shops, cafes, and beautiful views along the way. As you approach the end of Corso Umberto I, you will reach the Porta Catania, which is a large archway. Keep walking straight and follow the signs pointing towards Castelmola. After exiting the arch, continue along Via Porta Catania for about 1 kilometer until you reach the foot of Castelmola hill.
