Walking
If you are in the main area of Taormina, start by walking towards the 'Corso Umberto' street. This is the main street and is well-known for shops and restaurants. Continue walking along Corso Umberto until you reach the 'Piazza IX Aprile'. From there, head down the steps towards the 'Piazza Duca di Santo Stefano'. At this point, you should be able to see the funicular railway station. Take the funicular down to Mazzarò. Once you exit the funicular, follow the signs to the bus station and catch a bus to Catania. The bus ride will take around 1 hour. After arriving in Catania, make your way to 'Piazza Dante Alighieri' where the Church of Saint Nicholas the Arena is located.
