If you are starting from the Trieste city center, head towards the Trieste Central Station (Stazione di Trieste Centrale). Exit the station and walk towards the main street, Corso Cavour. Follow Corso Cavour until you reach the intersection with Via Roma. Turn left onto Via Roma and continue straight until you reach the waterfront promenade called Riva del Mandracchio. Walk along the promenade, enjoying the views of the sea, until you reach the Piazza Unità d'Italia, the largest square in Trieste. From there, head east along Via del Teatro Romano until you reach the historical district. Keep walking straight until you find signs for the Piazza di Santa Croce.
