From Trieste, head to the Trieste Centrale Train Station. Board a train to Florence, which will take approximately 3 to 4 hours. Make sure to check the train schedules in advance. Once you arrive at Firenze Santa Maria Novella (SMN) station, exit the station and head to the tram stop nearby.

At the Firenze SMN station, take Tram Line 1 (T1) towards 'Careggi' or 'Statuto'. Ride for about 10 minutes and get off at the 'Alamanni - Stazione' stop. From here, walk towards the Via Nazionale.

Once at the Alamanni - Stazione stop, walk straight along Via Nazionale, then turn right onto Via della Scala. Continue straight until you reach Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. From there, take Via della Repubblica, which will lead you to Piazza della Signoria. Continue walking towards the Uffizi Gallery, then follow the signs to Piazza Santa Croce. The Basilica of Santa Croce will be on your right as you enter the square.
