By Car
If you're traveling by car, head towards Venice from your location in Veneto. Use the A4 motorway, which connects major cities in the region. Follow signs for Venezia and take the exit for 'Venezia-Mestre'. Once you reach Mestre, follow the signs to Venice. Note that cars are not allowed in Venice itself, so you will need to park at one of the parking garages. The closest option is 'Piazza Roma', where you can park your car (parking fee applies, approx. €30 for 24 hours). From Piazza Roma, walk towards the 'Ponte della Costituzione' (Constitution Bridge) and cross it. Continue walking straight until you reach the Grand Canal. From here, follow signs for 'Piazza San Marco'. It’s about a 20-minute walk from the bridge to St Mark's Campanile.
By Train and Vaporetto
If you prefer public transportation, take a train to Venice Santa Lucia station. You can catch trains from various cities in Veneto such as Verona, Padova, or Treviso. Upon arrival at Santa Lucia, exit the station and head to the Vaporetto (water bus) stop just outside. Take Vaporetto Line 1 or Line 2 towards 'San Marco'. The fare for the Vaporetto is approximately €7.50 for a single journey. Disembark at the 'San Marco' stop, and you will be just a short walk from St Mark's Campanile. Follow the signs towards Piazza San Marco, which is well-marked.
By Bus
If you are coming from nearby towns, you can also take a bus to Venice. Look for buses that go to 'Piazzale Roma'. The fare varies depending on your starting point but is generally around €3 to €5. Once you arrive at Piazzale Roma, follow the same directions as when arriving by car. Walk towards the Ponte della Costituzione, cross the Grand Canal, and head to Piazza San Marco, which is about a 20-minute walk.
Use St Mark's Campanile as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
