Walking
If you are in the heart of San Marco, simply make your way towards the iconic Campanile di San Marco (St. Mark's Campanile). From the campanile, you will see the square directly in front of you. Head straight across the small square in front of the campanile, and you will find yourself at St. Mark's Square (P.za San Marco). This is a picturesque walk with historic buildings on either side.
Water Taxi (Vaporetto)
If you are further away or at the waterfront, you can take a Vaporetto (water bus) to get closer to St. Mark's Square. Board the Vaporetto at any nearby stop with the line heading towards 'San Marco'. The closest stop is 'San Marco - Vallaresso'. The fare is approximately €7.50 for a single ticket, and the ride will take about 5-10 minutes. Once you disembark, follow the signs that direct you towards P.za San Marco, which is a short walk from the dock.
Guided Tour
Consider joining a guided walking tour that starts from different points in San Marco. Many tours include highlights like the Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Basilica, and they typically conclude at St. Mark's Square. Check local listings for prices, which can range from €20 to €50 depending on the duration and inclusivity of the tour.
Use St. Mark's Square as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
