Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start your journey in the John Crow Mountains area. Head south on the A4 highway. Look for the signs leading toward the Blue Mountain Peak area. After approximately 15 minutes, turn onto a smaller road that leads up into the hills. This road can be bumpy, so drive cautiously. Continue on this road for about 30 minutes until you reach a fork. Take the left fork, which will lead you directly towards The Red Hills. You should see signs indicating your proximity to The Red Hills. The drive may require a 4x4 vehicle as some sections can be steep and rough.

• Public Transportation

  To reach The Red Hills using public transportation, start at the nearest town or city, such as Kingston. Take a bus or taxi service heading towards the Blue Mountains. Inform the driver that you are going to The Red Hills. The fare will typically cost around JMD 300-500 depending on the distance. Once you arrive at the Blue Mountain area, you will need to hire a local taxi to take you to The Red Hills, as public transport does not go directly there. The taxi ride from the drop-off point to The Red Hills will cost approximately JMD 1000-1500. Ensure you negotiate the fare before starting your journey.

• Hiking

  If you are already in the John Crow Mountains and prefer an adventurous route, you can hike to The Red Hills. Start from the nearest hiking trail. Follow the marked paths leading towards the peak, making sure to bring sufficient water and snacks. The hike can take about 2-3 hours depending on your pace. Always check local weather conditions before setting out, and consider hiring a local guide if you are unfamiliar with the area.
