Discover more about YS Falls

YS Falls is one of Jamaica's most scenic and unspoiled natural attractions, offering a refreshing escape into the island's lush interior. Located in St. Elizabeth, on Jamaica's South Coast, the falls are part of a working estate that dates back to the 17th century. Originally a sugarcane farm and logwood supplier, the property transitioned to breeding pedigree red poll cattle and thoroughbred racehorses in the 1960s. In 1990, the estate opened to the public, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of the seven-tiered waterfalls and surrounding gardens. The name YS Falls has two possible origins: it could be derived from the initials of the surnames of the estate's first two owners, John Yates and Richard Scott, or from the Gaelic word "wyess," meaning "winding". The 120-foot high falls cascade over seven levels, creating natural pools perfect for swimming. Lifeguards are on duty to ensure visitor safety. For the adventurous, there's a rope swing and a zipline that soars 40 feet above the falls. Visitors can explore the falls via crafted wooden walkways and steps. A jitney ride, a short, scenic tractor-pulled open-air cart, transports visitors through the estate's fields and forests to the falls. The estate also features lush gardens, a natural spring pool, and a gift shop. YS Falls is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m..
