    From the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, walk south along Knutsford Boulevard. Emancipation Park will be on your right, at the intersection of Knutsford Boulevard and Oxford Road. The walk is approximately 5 minutes and is free.

    Public Transport

    From Half Way Tree, take a JUTC bus towards New Kingston. Many routes pass near Emancipation Park. The ride is short, and the bus will drop you off near the intersection of Knutsford Boulevard and Oxford Road. From there, it is a short walk to the park entrance. The bus fare is JMD 100.

    Taxi

    From Norman Manley International Airport (KIN), a taxi ride to Emancipation Park takes approximately 20 minutes. Negotiate the fare with the driver before starting your journey. Expect to pay between JMD 4,050 and JMD 4,950.

Opened on July 31, 2002, the park commemorates the end of slavery in the British Empire and the French Caribbean. The park's theme, 'Tribute to Freedom,' is embodied in its art, landscaping, and overall design.The park's centerpiece is the 'Redemption Song' sculpture by Laura Facey, an 11-foot bronze depiction of a nude Black man and woman gazing towards the sky, symbolizing their rise from the horrors of slavery. The park also incorporates Adinkra symbols, honoring the ancestors of Jamaicans brought from West Africa. These symbols are integrated into the perimeter fence, entrance walls, benches, and garbage receptacles.Emancipation Park offers a variety of activities and amenities. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the gardens, which feature a mix of native and imported plants. A 500-meter jogging track encircles the park, providing a space for exercise. The park also includes a stage for performances and events, as well as chess and ping pong tables. With its well-maintained grounds, Emancipation Park provides a tranquil escape from the bustling city.
