Car
From Aki, head northeast on Route 1 (国道1号) towards Tochigi. Continue for approximately 30 km until you reach the junction for Route 121 (国道121号). Merge onto Route 121 and follow the signs for Nikkō. After about 20 km, you will arrive in Nikkō. Look for signs directing you to Nikkō Tōshogū, located at 2301 Sannai, which should be clearly marked. Depending on traffic, this drive will take around 1 hour. Please note that parking fees may apply at the shrine, so be prepared for potential costs.
Public Transportation
To reach Nikkō Tōshogū by public transportation from Aki, first make your way to the nearest train station, which is likely Aki Station. Take a local train on the Tōhoku Line (東北本線) towards Utsunomiya. After about 50 minutes, transfer at Utsunomiya Station to the Nikkō Line (日光線) and take a train directly to Nikkō Station. The total journey will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Nikkō Station, you can take a bus (Nikkō City Bus) towards 'Tōshō-gū' or 'Rinnō-ji', which is a short ride of about 10 minutes. The bus fare is around 300 yen. After getting off, follow the signs to Nikkō Tōshogū located at 2301 Sannai.
