Discover more about Tokyo Gate Bridge

The Tokyo Gate Bridge, officially opened on February 12, 2012, is a prominent landmark in Tokyo Bay, connecting Wakasu in Koto Ward with the central breakwater. Its distinctive design, resembling two dinosaurs facing each other, has earned it the popular nickname "Dinosaur Bridge".Constructed at an estimated cost of ¥113 billion, the bridge is a vital part of Tokyo's infrastructure, easing traffic congestion and facilitating transport to the Aomi and Oi container terminals. The bridge's height was carefully planned to accommodate both air traffic to nearby Haneda Airport and the passage of ships underneath.Visitors can access a pedestrian walkway via an elevator on the Wakasu side, offering panoramic views of Tokyo Bay, the city skyline, and even Mount Fuji on clear days. The bridge is illuminated daily from sunset to midnight, with monthly lighting themes showcasing traditional Japanese colors. Note that the sidewalk is closed for maintenance on the third Tuesday of every month and the first Tuesday of December (or the following day if the Tuesday is a holiday).
