Car
If you are driving from central Bungo, take Route 10 (the main highway). Follow it north towards Oita City. After approximately 30 kilometers, merge onto the Oita Expressway. Continue for about 50 kilometers and take the Yokohama exit. From there, follow local signs to reach France Yama, located at 184-24 Yamatecho, Naka Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa 231-0862. Parking is available near the park entrance. Be aware that highway tolls apply, costing around 1,500 yen.
Public Transportation
To reach France Yama using public transportation, start by taking a local bus from Bungo to the nearest train station, which is Bungo-Takada Station. The bus ride takes approximately 15 minutes and costs around 200 yen. From Bungo-Takada Station, board a train on the Nippō Main Line heading towards Hakata. Travel to Yokohama Station, which takes about 1.5 hours. Once at Yokohama Station, transfer to the Minatomirai Line and travel to Motomachi-Chukagai Station. From there, it’s a 15-minute walk to France Yama. Make sure to check train schedules, as frequency varies.
Taxi
For a more direct route, consider taking a taxi from Bungo to France Yama. This option can be more expensive, costing around 8,000 to 10,000 yen depending on traffic and time of day. The ride will take approximately 1 hour. Make sure to have the destination address ready: 184-24 Yamatecho, Naka Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa 231-0862.
