Car

If you are driving, start by heading towards Route 10 (also known as the Fukuoka Expressway). Follow the signs for Fukuoka City. Exit at the Hakata exit and continue on Sumiyoshi Dori. You will drive through the city until you reach Sumiyoshi Jinja, located at 3 Chome-1-51 Sumiyoshi, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka. There might be parking available near the shrine, but be prepared for potential parking fees, typically ranging from 200 to 500 yen per hour.

Public Transportation - Train

From Buzen, take a train from Buzen Station to Hakata Station. This may involve a transfer at Chikuzen-Maebaru Station depending on the line you choose. The journey should take approximately 30-50 minutes. Once at Hakata Station, take the Fukuoka City Subway (Kuko Line) towards Meinohama and get off at the Sumiyoshi Station. From there, it's a 5-10 minute walk to Sumiyoshi Jinja. The subway fare will cost around 300-400 yen.

Public Transportation - Bus

Alternatively, you can take a bus from Buzen directly to Fukuoka City. Look for a bus heading to Hakata or Fukuoka Station. Once you arrive at Hakata Station, follow the instructions mentioned above for the train or take a taxi from there to Sumiyoshi Jinja, which would cost approximately 1,000-1,500 yen depending on traffic.
