If you're driving from central Chikugo, start by getting onto Route 3 towards Sasebo. Continue on Route 3 for about 45 minutes until you reach Sasebo. Once in Sasebo, follow the signs for 'Tenkaiho Observatory'. You will turn onto Shimofunakoshicho, following the road signs. The observatory is located at 399 Shimofunakoshicho, Sasebo, Nagasaki 857-1232. There is parking available on-site, which is usually free.

To reach Tenkaiho Observatory via public transport, take a train from Chikugo to Sasebo Station. The train ride will take approximately 1 hour. From Sasebo Station, you can take a local bus or taxi to the observatory. If you opt for the bus, look for the bus route that goes towards 'Tenkaiho', which should be clearly marked. The bus fare is around 500 yen. The observatory is approximately a 20-minute bus ride from the station.
